Best of Foes

After watching these two Cuban sparring partners go toe-to-toe for several rounds, I was looking for a way to capture their competitive nature and their mutual respect. When they exited the ring, I asked them, in my broken Spanish, to stand next to each other. Both were tired from the workout, and they preferred to sit at the edge of the ring. To me, their demeanor said they were not finished sparing. By asking them to put their gloves together, I was hoping to add additional tension to the moment, but when one boxer unconsciously put his arm around the other, I knew I had the image I was looking for. I hope to return to Cuba soon and provide them and the boxing school copies of my image.
